Taxes are a way for the government to operate. If you are in favor of a civilized society with enforceable laws, then you would have to concede that you would need to pay taxes. No one likes paying taxes, but this is how most governments get the money they need to provide you with all of the services of a civilized society. There will be no income tax, nor is there a property tax. In a matter of fact, there is a total of only 3 different taxes. There is Capital Gains Tax. This applies to all stock and fund investments, and business profits. You didn’t necessarily did anything to make the money you earned, but this will still be taxed. There is also sales tax. Since there is no income tax, and there are a number of social welfare programs that every citizen benefits from, there has to be a high sales tax. There is a sliding tax system – so essential purchases have no sales tax while luxury and non NSC compliant items will have a 50% tax. Last is tariffs. Any foreign company that wishes to sell their items in Kaldus will likely have to pay a tariff depending on which country the item was produced in. Items that do not meet NSC requirements will have to pay twice the tariff. This is designed to give preferential treatment to Kaldan companies that must meet NSC requirements. You can learn more about the taxes in their own pages within this section.
